Who is James L. Sparks Jr. M.Sc.??

May 23rd, 2007 · 2 Comments

ID’er, young earth creationist, or credible scientists???
Anyway, Jim has been busy spamming the Mammal-L and Ecolog-L listservs for the past few weeks… Here is one of his posts.

Have you seen this? A peer reviewed journal for young earth creationism! Please tell me that someone out there is preparing some stiff opposition to this. [...]

Parking Lot Challenge

April 25th, 2007 · No Comments

From Doc Bushwell’s site:
“…Instead I want to see YouTube videos of people ambling around church parking lots during Sunday services and placing pro-rational “tracts” on people’s windshields. I’m not talking about in-your-face “God doesn’t exist, get used to it, ya fuckin’ hayseed!” stuff, but something genuinely useful and even seductive. Material that simply asks readers [...]

The resurrection of Jesus

April 15th, 2007 · 12 Comments

I’m not much of a music-while-I-drive kind of guy.. I’d much rather listed to talk radio. As you might imagine, finding something interesting to listen to is quite a challenge. In Southern California, there are 2 basic classes of talk radio. 1. In Spanish, and 2. About religion. Note that these [...]

Babu the "science writer"

April 14th, 2007 · 3 Comments

It’s not often that I laugh this hard over some dork trying to play scientist- but this one is a real gem… My snide remarks are in blue
“Why The Fossils Don’t Support Evolution” or “Count the ways that Babu is not qualified to write this article…”
Millions of people are taught that the fossil record furnishes [...]

Pornography fails to… stimulate

April 4th, 2007 · 2 Comments

So the nut brain zoo keepers have chosen to artificially inseminate…
Remember these were the people that thought that panda porn might get the poor-fat male panda in the mood. Interestingly, this radical shift in strategy was instituted only after head zoo keeper Nueng Kob was found watching the movie in the main exhibit, fully aroused, [...]

Things that make you go hmmmm…

April 3rd, 2007 · No Comments

In a recent Newsweek poll:

Nearly half (48 percent) of the public rejects the scientific theory of evolution;
one-third (34 percent) of college graduates say they accept the Biblical account of creation as fact.
Seventy-three percent of Evangelical Protestants say they believe that God created humans in their present form within the last 10,000 years; 39 percent of [...]

Egnor is "a dazzling nincompoop"

March 28th, 2007 · No Comments

I believe PZ has the corner on the Egnor-bashing… Thanks PZ.
He mangles science, now he defames history. Michael Egnor is like the Swiss army knife of creationist hackery.
Former Vice President Al Gore famously claimed to have invented the Internet because years ago he was in the Senate and sponsored a bill. The assertion that Charles [...]

Starbucks showing the hallmark signs of Intelligent Design??

March 11th, 2007 · No Comments

A few months ago, I was motivated to muse about all the reasons I hate starbucks.. I posted them here. In summary, Starbucks coffee:

Is expensive
The people are pretentious
The coffee tastes like shit- remember- even McDonalds is better!
Their business practices are not eco-friendly.
No (or very limited) Fair Traded coffee
Bad music…

Now, even worse.. Starbucks coffee is supporting [...]

From PZ re: Michael Egnor- nut brain extraordinaire

March 10th, 2007 · No Comments

Career day at the Discovery Institute preschool from Pharyngula. Here is the essay from the horses mouth..
An Excerpt:

In case you ever doubted that the Discovery Institute’s real goal is the promulgation of ignorance, that’s a genuine quote: Michael Egnor is directly addressing high school kids and telling them they don’t need to learn basic [...]

Animal Genitals Banned from cars in Md

March 2nd, 2007 · 1 Comment

Not that I am suggesting that there might be more pressing issues the Md faces, but the bill recently introduced, and expected to pass that stipulates that any “model, sign, sticker or other item” that shows uncovered human or animal genitals, as well as human buttocks or female breasts, be banned from motor vehicles.
Please note [...]
