Observations rearding the books we read and SAT scores

Very interesting… I highly suggest thinking about these correlations.. Here is the deal…

  1. Generate a list of popular books at particular universities.
    • Easy via Amazon/Facebook
  2. For the represented universities, get their average SAT scores for admitted students
  3. Make a graph

See below for a few observations… [SOURCE]

1st- the expected. Most books are not correlated with either high or low SAT scores…
2nd- the comical. The Bible seems to be associated with really low SAT scores. I’m not too surprised..
3rd- the troubling. African American Literature is correlated with very low SAT scores. I will venture a guess and say that the majority of people reading these books are African Americans. It’s so unfortunate to see this type of difference in education based on race. It is a real signal that either the SAT is racially biased- or that this sector is educationally deprived.
