Overheard this morning…

Person1:

I have cats… and  I never feed them cause the eat the mice.. And my dog, he eats the ground squirrels. Those ground squirrels are real pests, they eat all my bulbs and make holes in the yard.

Person2:

What are ground squirrels?

Person1:

Oh, they are like gophers

Me:

Actually, gophers and squirrels are not all that similar- save for the fact that they both have fur, and live underground….

Person1:

Oh, right, squirrels are much more like “groundhogs”

Me: exit stage left, knowing that I was fighting a losing battle…

Time to turn off the TV folks….

    its ok. I’ve been forced to, on several occasions, explain why trees are physiologically different than grass…other than size.
