Long Live the Cactus Mouse

Turns out that one of the main components of my critters’ diet has been shown to dramatically increase lifespan.

From a University of Michigan (GO BLUE!) Medical Center news release- the creosote bush (Larrea tridentata) contains a chemical that might increase longevity by 20-30%- but only in males (sorry girls).

“My mice” don’t seem to live all that long- a maximum of 2 years, with most dying at one..
